River
rush over me
and heal my wounds.
A friend of ours
had a fight with my skin last week,
and I suffer from it still
but it has taught me to breathe.
And so I breathe.
Water and wind,
sun and sound
fill me,
take me over.
River
rush over me,
heal these wounds.
Ocean,
ReplyDeletecrash over me
and expose my skin.
Ocean,
Wash over me
And take this confining layer off.
Ocean,
Pour into me
And seep deep into my pores.
Ocean,
Preserve my being,
And teach me your ageless wisdom.
Ocean,
crash over me
And expose my soul.
I love your poem Amber! After reading it I composed this short response. I hope you like it. :)
That's great, Katie! Thank you so much for responding! "seep deep into my pores"...I love that.
ReplyDeleteHi, Amber! I am glad I stopped by your blog. I will poke around some more. I am glad to read what you've got here. Thought-provoking and conscientious!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you write poetry. I do to, a lot is posted on my blog, though I have recently password protected a lot of it (so I can submit and a few other plans).
So, you haven't posted since November. Maybe you will again soon? I am starting to feel a burnout myself.
It was nice to see you last night! Take care, Katherine
Thanks so much for checking it out, Katherine! I didn't realize you'd commented till now. I wrote a lot of (rather different) poetry when I was littler, and wish I were better at it now. I tend to write verses down when they occur to me, or just keep them in mind, but I rarely reach a satisfying point with any full poem. Yeah, I guess I haven't thought of my life as noteworthy enough since I stopped the more regular flow of posts, but I've certainly had some good adventures. I'll try to get it going again this summer. See you soon!
